WILL YOU HAVE TO PAY?

Since the standard eye examination has been privatised, most people will need to pay But some are still entitled to free eye exams including:

  •     Are under 16

  •     Are aged 16, 17 or 18 and in full time education

  •     Aged 60 or over

  •     Are a diagnosed glaucoma patient

  •     Have been advised by an opthalmologist that you are at risk of glaucoma

  •     Are aged 40 or over and are a parent, brother, sister, son or daughter of a diagnosed  glaucoma patient

  •     Have been diagnosed as diabetic

  •     Are registered as severely sight-impaired/blind or sight-impaired/partially sighted

  •     Need complex lenses

  •    Are someone whose sight test is carried out through the hospital eye department as part of the management of your eye condition

  •     Are getting, or your partner gets:
    -
    Income support
    - Income-based Jobseeker's Allowance (Incapacity Benefit or Disability Living Allowance do not count as they are not income related)
    - Pension Credit Guarantee Credit.

  • Are entitled to, or named on, a valid NHS tax credit exemption certificate

  • Are named on a valid HC2 certificate

Many of these patients will be entitled to help with the cost of their spectacles/contact lenses with NHS vouchers.

PROFESSIONAL FEES

Eye Examination                     £40.00
(This does not include contact lens aftercare or other investigations).

NHS OPTICAL VOUCHERS

You can get vouchers towards the cost of glasses or contact lenses if you:

  • are under 16

  • are aged 16, 17 or 18 and in Full-Time education

  • need complex lenses

  • are getting, or your partner gets:
    - Income Support
    - Income-based Job Seekers allowance (Incapacity Benefit or Disability Living Allowance do not count as they are not income related).
    - Pension Credit Guaranteed Credit.

  • are entitled to, or named on, a valid NHS tax credit exemption certificate.

  • are named on a valid HC2 certificate.

(For those considering laser corneal surgery, this fee is in addition to the standard eye examination fee and covers all assessment, counselling and referral but not follow-up.)

Our spectacles are made to European Standards. We are able to supply virtually any brand of lens but specialise in Essilor, Carl Zeiss, Nikon and Seiko. Our Dispensing Opticians will be happy to discuss your special requirements which may include tints or filters, anti-reflection coatings and abrasion resistant coatings.

We always carry a range of discounted designer frames all at 50% discount.

We are agents for Rayban, Calvin Klein, Vuarnet, DKNY, CK, FCUK, Adidas, Armani, Fendi and many more.

Planned Replacement         from     £10.50 per month

Daily Disposable                from     £14.50 per month

Our charges include examination, tolerance trial, fitting lenses, full instruction, initial solutions and case and aftercare for 12 months. We specialise in unusual and complex fittings, especially cosmetic, toric and bifocal. No fees are payable until a satisfactory out come is achieved. Planned replacement and daily disposable monthly fees include all visits and full insurance.

AFTERCARE

Reminder Letters - Your optometrist will determine the interval recommended before your next examination. We will write when you are due for an examination.

12 month warranty - All products are warranted for 12 months unless special manufacturer’s arrangements extend this.

Service - All spectacles need adjustment to ensure comfort and good vision. Such regular adjustments are free and part of our service. If you are not completely satisfied, please let us know.

Training - All staff are fully trained and undertake regular updates, The professional staff attend regular continuing education both in the UK and overseas.

Complaints Policy - We take service to our patients very seriously. In the event of any dissatisfaction your complaint will he dealt with by the quality manager. The practice is a member of the independent OCCS arbitration service. Professional staff are registered with their appropriate professional association and with the General Optical Council.
