WHAT IS OCT?

Only 10 years ago OCT technology was mainly used in research, but recent advances in the technology have brought it to the forefront of eyecare. This revolutionary technology is quite common in eye hospitals but this top level of care is available in only a few private consulting rooms or high street optometry practices.

At Kerr's, we continue to make significant investments to ensure that the very best technology is available to protect your eyesight now, and in the future.

Set out below are a few questions you may have about this technique.

REVO OCT Scan

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN I HAVE AN OCT SCAN?

The scan is very easy to perform, takes just a few minutes, and is completely non-invasive. It doesn't use any sudden bursts of air or light flashes. Any unusual spots can then be measured and compared against previous results.

Retinal Damage can occur
WHAT CAN YOU SEE WITH OCT?

Retinal damage can occur from many different causes including glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, and age-related macular degenerations (AMD). These conditions can result in vision loss or even complete sight loss.

We use OCT to detect any problems early, which allows us to provide our patients with better treatment options and a more successful visual result.
